First Advent

The idea of First Advent in the theology of the Unification Church is closely linked to its doctrine of the Three Blessings; see Principle of Creation. God intended Adam to be a perfect man of mature, parental heart, voluntarily refraining from any action that would hurt the heart of another being; see sinlessness. Because of the Fall of Man, Adam failed his responsibility to achieve perfection, so God had to send (or appoint) a "second Adam" to be the Messiah.
