Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon
The Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon (FCCO) is a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program based in Portland, Oregon, United States. The program's objective is to reduce feline overpopulation in Oregon by spaying and neutering stray and feral cats. The FCCO offers reduced-price spay and neuter services to caregivers of feral cat colonies. Colony caregivers must commit to feed and care for the altered animal after services have been provided.
History
The FCCO, originally named the Feral Cat Coalition of Portland (FCCP), was formed by a group of Portland-based veterinarians in March 1995.
In February 1998, the FCCP became the FCCO with the arrival of a mobile clinic obtained via a grant from the the Leonard X. Bosack and Bette M. Kruger Foundation. The mobile veterinary hospital was the first of its kind in North America and continues to serve as the only mobile clinic specifically for feral cats.
In 2009, the Audubon Society of Portland announced a team-up with the FCCO in an effort to curb feline overpopulation in the area.
