Fei Wang (Fashion Designer)
Fei Wang (born November, 1977, in Beijing, China) is a Chinese Fashion Designer based in the UK. At the age of 28 she launched her own fashion label, the eponymous Fei Wang, to design, manufacture and retail her own range of Asian-fit sunglasses. The range was launched in the spring of 2008.
Early life
Fei Wang is the daughter of Chinese mathematician Wang Changpei. She was educated in Beijing before moving to the UK in 2001 to attend Oxford Brookes University, where she graduated in 2004 with degrees in Psychology and Anthropology 1.
Design career
Launching her first range of Asian-fit sunglasses in 2008 online. In 2009 she was received by the Japanese retailers including, Mitsonori Natsume, Japans Eyewear Guru, at Cradle 2, and the huge Japanese retailer United Arrows.
She claims to have taken her inspiration for her first collections of designs from the classic history of sunglasses and specifically her own frustration at not being to able to buy fashion sunglasses that fitted her oriental features."I love the way sunglasses finish an outfit. What I never liked was having to choose a pair, not because I loved the design, but because they fitted" Fei Wang.
