Fahd Al Rasheed
Fahd Al-Rasheed is the Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Emaar the Economic City (EEC), a publicly listed Saudi company leading the development of King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). KAEC is being developed as a world-class city 80 km north of Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea coast. The City spans over an area of 168 million square meters, with a total investment of over USD 100 billion, representing one of the largest privately developed projects in the world. This mega-project, which is forecasted to house a population of over 2 million residents by 2025, is part of the Kingdom’s drive to expand the economy, create employment opportunities for its population and function as a catalyst to attract foreign investment, commerce, and industry.
Prior to his appointment as the CEO of Emaar the Economic City, Al-Rasheed held the post of Deputy Governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA). In his role as Deputy Governor of SAGIA, Al-Rasheed led the establishment of the Economic Cities Agency (ECA), the agency overseeing the Kingdom’s Economic City initiative. Prior to his role as Deputy Governor, Al-Rasheed held the position of SAGIA’s CFO, where he was responsible for the creation of several private equity investment vehicles managed by the private sector and aimed at mobilizing sector-specific investments in the Kingdom.
Prior to joining SAGIA, Al-Rasheed worked for Saudi Aramco’s Finance Division where he led initiatives in several areas including investments, corporate finance, and cash management.
Al-Rasheed holds an MBA from the Stanford Business School and a BS in Business Administration, with concentrations in Finance and International Business, from Washington University in St. Louis.
