F-106 Piranha Scout Fighter
The F-106 Piranha Scout Fighter is a fictional spacecraft found in the Wing Commander universe. Its first appearance was in Wing Commander: Prophecy under the service of the Terran Confederation.

In the fictional Wing Commander universe, the Terran Confederation started deploying many new fighters for their fleets, including the F-106 Piranha Scout Fighter. The Piranha fighter was first seen and used in Wing Commander: Prophecy and was the first fighters available to use. Pilots Lance Casey and Maxwell Garrett used these fighters when they were first assigned to the TCS Midway. These fighters would serve as the current, standard "scout-type" fighters for the Confederation.
The F-106 Piranha has a weapon arsenal that most would consider a Light Fighter. Armed with two ion guns, a single laser cannon and a Stormfire MK gun, these fighters are able to perform their scouting assignments with little to no problem. The Piranhas were also equipped with a missile paylod that included four heat-seeking missiles and two Image Recognition missiles. These fighters were also fast and agile. They can easily reach 650 km/s. Intended as a short-range, lightweight escort and reconnaissance fighter, the Piranha sacrifices shields, armour, and firepower for manoeuvrability and acceleration. The Piranha scout fighter is a standard and perfect choice for routine sector patrol assignments.
