Ewhaian

Ewhaian (이화이언) is a Korean/Konglish coined term meaning "Ewha person." In a narrow sense, this would apply to students, alumni, and faculty of Ewha schools and the university. There are several "Ewha" schools, all of which originated from Mary Scranton's Ihwa Hakdang (also Ewha Hakdang; 이화학당 梨花學堂) mission school for girls, which opened with only one student on May 31, 1886. Today, however, the Ewha schools are not all under one foundation. Ewha Womans University is separate from Ewha Girls' High School and Ewha Girls' Foreign Language High School.

Ewhaian.com is a non-profit Korean language community Web site and information portal for students and people interested in Ewha Womans University. The site was opened in May, 2001 by three students and is continued to be run by students on a volunteer basis, funded on donations and banner ads.

Ewhaian.org is the Web site for the Ewha Womans University Alumnae Association of North America (EWUAANA), which was founded in 2001.
