Biography

Early Years

Eve was born in Tbilisi to Misha Pizhadze, an art dealer, and Riva Pizhadze, a highly-respected makeup and hair stylist in the theatre and ballet world. She lived in Italy, Israel and Russia before traveling to the United States in 1975. Eve later attended CUNY Baruch, where she studied Business and Communication.

Eve Fashion Jewelry

At the age of 21, Eve started her first business, Eve Fashion Jewelry, where she created hand made custom jewelry in New York City. She attended monthly high end trade shows, where she marketed her products to potential clients. Although she mostly sold to manufacturers, her jewelry was eventually worn by famous clients, including Olivia Newton John and Michael Jackson.

First Make Up Job: Salomé

In 1993, after a change in heart, Eve considered a different career path with a new direction in life. Her first job in makeup was on the production of Salomé, at the Palace Theatre in Stamford, Connecticut, as a personal makeup artist for Al Pacino.

NYC Opera

In 1993, Eve began working at the NYC Opera on a national tour with Madame Butterfly as an assistant in the hair and makeup department. She enjoyed the energy of a live show while learning how to transform people with makeup and hair.

Broadway

Eve took every job she could get her hands on. She began filling in on Broadway, working as a hair and makeup assistant for Beauty and the Beast in 1994. After two years working at A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden (1995), Eve was promoted to Assistant Supervisor, where she worked for a total of seven years. She also worked on the Wizard of Oz in 1997 as an Assistant Supervisor where she designed the makeup for Roseanne Barr, transforming her into the Wicked Witch of the West.

All My Children

In 1996, Eve was recommended by a friend from Saturday Night Live to interview at All My Children. For the first time, Eve was working as a freelance makeup artist for a television show, but she continued to work on Broadway.

The View

In 1997, The View debuted in studio 24 (formerly of Ryan’s Hope) across the hall from All My Children in the ABC building in New York City, located at 320 West 66th street. Many people auditioned for the new daytime television show, but Eve decided not to audition.

One day during the inaugural season, both makeup artists from The View had emergencies and couldn’t make it to the show. They had one makeup artist on call as a fill in, but they needed another. In desperation, they called Eve, who had the day off from All My Children. Eve remembers being called at 7:30 am and hustling to get to work by 8:00 am. After one day, the View asked Eve to return. She was working a full schedule, splitting time between both shows, across the hall from each other.

After a few months, the View asked Eve to be the head of the makeup department, working with all of the talent, including [Barbara Walters], Meredith Vieira, Joy Behar, Star Jones and Debbie Matenopoulos. Later additions to the show included Lisa Ling and Elisabeth Haselback.

Plastic Surgery without the Surgery Eve decided to take her makeup skills in front of the camera at The View, performing segments entitled Plastic Surgery without the Surgery. She wanted to educate the public on the power of makeup. Meanwhile, Eve was mixing her own makeup products and using them on The View.

In 2002, Eve collected all of her knowledge from the segment with the same name and published her first book entitled Plastic Surgery without the Surgery(Warner Books)1. Eve wanted to show the importance of artistic theory involved in makeup. Although Eve never studied makeup, she was frustrated by the makeup industry myths. In publishing her book, Eve wanted to share the information she had learned with the hope of helping everyone become better makeup artists. In hindsight, Eve credits the lack of information to driving her to discover the proper techniques for herself.

In the book, Eve demonstrates and educates with random products. It was a theory based book as opposed to a product based one. Readers were having trouble finding products Eve described in the book. Based on this frustration, Eve started creating her own products that she was using on The View, mixing and improving. Eve worked directly with chemists to perfect consistency, texture and the color of products.

In 2000, Meredith Vieira hosted the Academy Awards. Meredith asked Eve to join her in Los Angeles, California. After a successful trip, Eve became Meredith’s full time makeup artist.
