Evangeline Beechler

Evangeline "Van" Beechler (born 1978) is an American politician who has served as Chair of the Idaho Democratic Party since March 2019. Beechler was previously an unsuccessful candidate for the Caldwell City Council and Idaho Senate.
Early life and education
Beechler was born in Gentilly, New Orleans in 1978. She earned an Associate degree from North Idaho College and Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from Boise State University. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and Master of Arts in adult and organizational learning and leadership, both from the University of Idaho.
Career
Beechler has worked in the Democratic Party for over 25 years. In March 2016, she was selected to serve as the Vice Chair of the Idaho Democratic Party. She also served as a parliamentarian at the Democratic National Committee. In 2018, Beechler was the Democratic nominee for the 10th district in the Idaho Senate. She was defeated in the general election by incumbent Republican Jim Rice. Beechler was also a candidate for Caldwell City Council in 2019, losing narrowly to former State Senator John McGee in a runoff election.
