This portal is one of the main communication tools of the ENPI Information and Communication Support Project, launched by the European Commission in January 2009 to make more known the relationship between the EU and its Neighbours, its nine partner countries in the Mediterranean and six partner countries in the East. It has over 2000 pages of information in *English, *French, *Russian and *Arabic.
This three-year Project is funded by the *EuropeAid Co-operation OfficeEuropeAid cooperation office ]2, which manages EU external aid programmes and is charged with turning political decisions into actions benefiting the partner countries and its citizens on the ground. It is financed under EuropeAid’s *Regional Information and Communication Programme.
The Project seeks to increase knowledge and raise awareness and understanding of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation *(Barcelona Process) on the one hand, and the *Eastern Partnership on the other.
The Project gives special emphasis to the activities supported by the *European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI), the financial instrument through which decisions taken within the framework of the *European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) Neighbourhood Policy are implemented.
The countries participating in the ENPI are:
- ENPI South- Algeria, Egypt, Israel , Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Occupied Palestinian Territory, Syria, Tunisia
- ENPI East- Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia
The ENPI funds some 40 projects and programmes in the South through EuropeAid’s *Regional Programme and a similar number in the East.
