Emil Stejnar

Emil Stejnar (January 1939 in Vienna) is an Austrian author and astrologer. He is known in the relevant circles as an expert on the work of Franz Bardon, to whom he feels spiritually connected. His books – now ten of them – fist appeared self published, and have been published since 2007 by Ibera Verlag in Vienna.

Biography

Emil Stejnar was born in Vienna, on 21. January 1939 at 7:23 am. After his training as a gold and silversmith, he emigrated to Sweden in 1957, where he retired to devote himself intensively to occult studies. He also kept a jewelry workshop there. In 1968 he married and returned to Vienna. There he purchased a jewelry store and worked as Jewelry designer. His particular interest lay with Freemasonry and Astrology, because as he says, he could find the interfaces there, that connect the spiritual world with the material – in other words the connecting interface between Esoteric and Science. For twenty years he was the head of the institute for scientific fate-research ("Institut für wissenschaftliche Schicksalsforschung"). In order to research Magic and Mysticism within Freemasonry and Christianity, he founded, in 1990, the research loge "Esoteric Circle" under the Masonic lodge "Quatour Coronati". Stejnar lives now secluded, mostly in Sweden, and does not receive visitors anymore.

Focus points of Research

Stejnar sees himself as spiritual disciple of Franz Bardon and is considered by his followers as Bardon's successor. He has corrected some mistakes in Bardon's work and has discovered, that the names of the spirits listed in the book "The magic of Abramelin" are identical to the 360 names of genies Bardon describes in his book "Practice of magical evocation" . In the seventies and eighties Stejnar was known in the media as jewelry designer as well as Astrologer. He wrote articles for major newspapers like: Kronenzeitung, Kurier Die Presse, Heim und Welt, Das Neue Zeitalter and others. Together with the president of the Astrological society, Medical officer Dr. Heinz Fiedelsberger, he attempted to separate Astrology from Divination, with the aim to raise Astrology to the status of a phenomenological science. Stejnar has also successfully fought against the ban of astrology and achieved in 1971, that Astrology was approved in Austria as free trade.

Acknowledgement

The Cosmo-biological Structure of the psycho-physical force fields as described by Stejnar, provide a clear conceptual model for the cybernetics of consciousness. Steinar explains the working of Astrology with soul-organs that correspond to the planetary principles and form the subtle body. The demonstrable connection – statistic causality – between certain astrological constellations and our consciousness is meant to establish Astrology as a model of explanation. The aim of the Gnostic Hermetics which Stejnar describes is not magical power, but self-control and magical wakefulness. This is achieved through the practices and exercises of the Hermetic: Refinement of character, schooling of the will and the imagination; and through the objective of the Gnostics: Knowledge and self-knowledge. Stejnars work was originally only accessible to a small circle of readers. "Das Buch der Meister" (The Book of the Masters) in seven volumes, and the "Meisterbriefe" (Master-letters) in 5 volumes were mailed to readers personally known to him.
