Elise Lindsay
Elise Marie Lindsay (born June, 1977) is a well known, and highly respected, personal trainer, dance choreographer, aerobics instructor, presenter, writer, model, health and nutrition expert.
Background
With over twenty years experience in professional dance the multi talented Lindsay's fitness routines have lead her to win the highly respected Pure Energy Presenter Award in 2002, and come runner-up in the 2004 FITS Awards as Best British Newcomer. She is currently a presenter on SKY Digitals Fitness TV and can be seen on Wake Up With Elise Lindsay. More recently she coordinated an extensive six week Fitness TV special titled Hi Impact Aerobics. Her co-host on the show was ex Coronation Street regular Scott Wright.
Public Profile.
Lindsay has gained national recognition for her collaborations with good friend Coleen McLoughlin, the wife of Manchester United and England footballer Wayne Rooney. Lindsay, who met (the then) McLoughlin in July 2004 while filming a fitness video helped transform McLoughlin's frame for her upcoming wedding to the young England international. The transformation turned McLoughlin (now Rooney) into a fashion icon and reality TV celebrity almost overnight. Lindsay has also appeared in, and has been credited as the driving force behind McLoughlin's best selling fitness DVD Brand New Body Workout . Outside of her association with McLoughlin, she has also been snapped putting Bianca Gascoigne and former East Enders star Natalie Cassidy through their paces. For the record, due to the often confidential nature of her work it is unknown at present how many individuals in the public gaze Lindsay has trained up or advised. But it is likely considerable.
Lindsay's profile boosting collaborations with Mcloughlin have led to a slew of press attention in particularly centered around her much excerpted 2008 book How To Get a Celeb's Body. Lindsay has made many television appearances in recent years, most notably on This Morning,GMTV and BBC World and a number of documentaries on Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky. Outside of her Fitness TV commitments her most notable recent appearance in prime time was in early 2010 alongside noted GMTV presenter and journalist Lorraine Kelly as personal trainer to the obese Chavis family in the controversial yet ultimately hopeful series Lorraine Kelly's Big Fat Challenge on bio.
Endorsements
Lindsay also keeps a close eye on developments in the world of health and fitness, and to name all of the endorsements she has made since 2004 would be an intimidating task.
An example of her eye for new fitness trends and techniques is her master trainer status in two alternative but effective modes of exercise. Namely. the 'Flexi-Bar' a device akin to a stick and an unstrung archery bow which when shaken at varying arm lengths emits rapid vibrations which aim to strengthen and tone the upper and lower body.
Kangoo Jumps (another Lindsay forte) is rather more dynamic. It consists of a 2 rounded spring like devices being mounted to the bottom of footwear in which the individual proceeds to either run or jump in a random or rhythmic fashion. The benefits of the exercise is the intensive all body motion required to propel the coil and its negation of much of the impact on knee joints which conventional running, jump rope and step exercise may cause.
She recently designed a 6 week exercise routine to be used in conjunction with the Slendertone system.
Personal Outlook.
On top of her many qualifications in the world of health and fitness Lindsay is also a qualified counselor and life coach who runs two rehabilitation clinics in her home town of Sheffield.
Lindsay's zeal for spreading the message of physical health is well known. She has known to persist even if the participants have absolutely no idea what the concept of fitness let alone aerobics is, as adjudged by her running a canine aerobics session At the annual 2007 Crufts Dog Show. Though fun, Lindsay was quick to express her concerns for animal welfare in light of statistics showing a large proportion of Britain's domestic dogs suffered from obesity.
"It's shameful that so many dogs are deprived of exercise.....There are trainings schemes to get humans back on track and it's time our four-legged friends joined in."
Lindsay, is adamant that it's never to late to start feeling better AbOUT oneself and living a healthier lifestyle. To stress her point she often has her Mother on her ‘Wake Up. With Elise Lindsay’ slot on Fitness TV. The two enjoy a close bond and Lindsay is very open about her mum being her hero and mentor.
