Elfiq Networks
Elfiq Networks is a privately held company providing computer networking products and solutions. The company is headquartered in Montreal, Canada. Elfiq Networks develops and produces Link Load Balancers. These appliances are used in Wide Area Network (WAN) Optimization.
History
Elfiq Networks was founded in 2004 by Frederic Parent and Martin Deveault. International sales started in 2006.
The company released Global Geolink technology in 2007 to allow for multi-site link balancing. The same year, it introduced SitePathMTPX, a feature enabling WAN bandwidth virtualization.
In 2011, Elfiq Units became compatible with USB 3G & 4G mobile sticks, complementing the RJ45 ports already present on the company's link balancers.
As of 2012, units had been deployed in 130 countries. Still in 2012, Elfiq released AppOptimizer, a technology designed to monitor and prioritize Layer-7 traffic.
Elfiq Networks releases Flex Multipath Routing Solutions (FMR) in 2013, for Enterprise and SMB businesses.
Link load balancing
Link balancing (or load balancing) is a computer networking method for distributing workloads across multiple computing resources, such as computers, a computer cluster, network links, central processing units or disk drives. Load balancing aims to optimize resource use, maximize throughput, minimize response time, and avoid overload of any one of the resources. Using multiple components with link balancing instead of a single component may increase reliability through redundancy.
