Education

Elena Gnedina studied at the Ural State University in Yekaterinburg. She holds a master's degree from the Central European University in Budapest and completed doctoral studies at the School of Political Science, International Studies, and Philosophy at the Queen's University Belfast.

Career

Following the completion of her doctoral research at Queen’s University Belfast, which investigated the geopolitical influences of Russia and the European Union on post-Soviet states, she transitioned into the private sector. In London, she served as a consultant specializing in international corruption issues.

​Additionally, her expertise in European affairs was further developed at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels, where her work focused primarily on EU foreign policy and the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). She also wrote works about Ukraine and Moldova.

Personal life

Elena Gnedina is married to Moldovan diplomat Nicu Popescu. They have 2 children.
