Edo no Kiba

is a SUPER Famicom cyberpunk action video game intended for a Japanese audience. It is Tokyo in the year 2050 where terrorists are running wild in the streets, and only one armored police officer is fast enough to hunt them down.

Gameplay

The player attacks by slashing to the right with his Energy Sword, and he can also hold his sword defensively to deflect some bullets. If the player even gets lightly touched by an enemy, he gets electrocuted and loses ten units of health. Some weapons (like the flamethrower) causes the player to automatically lose a life. By then holding forward and releasing attack he can throw the sword like a boomerang. Environments range from city streets to sewers and a flying battleship. Each level ends with a boss fight against an enemy that can withstand many attacks.

There are bizarre cameos in this game by a Bill Rizer look-a-like, a robot that resembles the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and an enemy that slightly resembles the Buddha. A mission even asks player to avert nuclear war by destroying the ICBMs while they're in flight to their destination.
