DVDFab
DVDFab is a Microsoft Windows program that allows the decryption and copying of video DVDs.
Product Variants
There are three DVDFab products with different feature sets.
DVDFab HD Decrypter is a freeware DVD ripper, capable of making copies of a full disc, or of extracting a single title from a disc to the hard drive.
DVDFab Gold is shareware. In addition to the features of DVDFab HD Decrypter, DVDFab Gold is capable of compressing a dual-layer disc to single-layer disc size, splitting titles from a dual-layer disc to two single-layer discs, and burning DVD images to recordable discs.
DVDFab Platinum is a superset of DVDFab Gold that adds the ability to make a custom copy of a disc with any selection of titles, languages, subpictures, and menus, the ability to make 1:1 bit-perfect clones of discs including data DVDs, or merge titles from different discs into one DVD image.
Video Conversion
The Mobile Option is an add-on to DVDFab Gold and DVDFab Platinum that enables conversion of DVD titles to formats such as MPEG-4 with profiles for creating files suitable for many different hardware players including the Apple iPod, Microsoft Zune and Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3, as well as several models of portable video players, mobile phones, and PDAs.
Controversy
DVDFab is listed on FFmpeg's Hall of Shame indicating that it is violating FFmpeg's license terms.
