Dragon Ball Online Global
Dragon Ball Online Global (officially abbreviated as DBOG), which also goes by the name of Dragon Ball Online Server Revival (as a slogan for bringing back the game) is a project working on bringing back the MMORPG Dragon Ball Online, as it is own stand-alone retail version, after the official developer company shut down.
DBOG was founded by Arch and Azis, along with Daneos, their main coder.
Origins
The project is based on the original game, Dragon Ball Online, which was a massive multiplayer online role-playing game, developed by NTL with the support of the author of the Dragon Ball series himself, Akira Toriyama.
It started off with a version in Korea, which not many people were able to have access to, due to Netmarbles strict account creating policies. However, some time later, a Taiwanese version was released and even another one in Hong Kong as well, both ran by the same publisher, Wasabii. These versions had a much easier and account creation process and both acknowledged and welcomed the whole foreigner community.
The English Community, for as long as it has existed, was supported for the most part by a fan website and forum that goes by the name of DBOCOM. Thousands of Dragon Ball fans came together in this website as a community to play the game and it had a huge impact on the popularity of DBO outside Asia.
Years came to pass since the release of Dragon Ball Online, but NTL ended up terminating further development of the game and, eventually, the publishers (both Netmarble and Wasabii) had no choice but to shut down their servers.
Development
The Dragon Ball Online Global project is being developed mainly by Daneos, who delivers new updates almost everyday with excellent efficiency, making DBOG the project with most progress than any other, thus far. Such updates can be seen on their public forum.
Release Dates
A Closed Alpha Test of Dragon Ball Online Global was announced to begin at 20th April 2015.
