Douli

The Douli are a famous tribe, found mainly in both Indian Administered and Pakistani administered Poonch.

Location

They are predominantly based along the line of control in Hajira, Poonch District from Dara Sher Khan, Mandhole, Abbaspur, Serarri to Rawalakot. Members of this tribe are historically wealthy landowners. The Douli tribe played a key role in Liberating part of current Kashmir under Pakistani control from India. (M Naeem Library).

Other places where Douli people live are Kotli District, Mirpur, Muzafarabad, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, the Middle East, the UK and Europe.

Famous Persons

Sardar Ghulam Mustafa Khan was the first minister of this tribe in 1995. He was first elected as member of the AJK Assembly in 1985 and is also among the top industrialists in AJK.He has also a pride to be the eldest & take GIRGAS to solve the internal problems of the area.

The AJK Ex.food minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi is a leading member of this tribe. He has been politically ACTIVE since 1980 after the death of his father Sardar Fazal Dad Khan the great Intellectual.

Sardar Yar Muhmmad Khan is another prominent member of this tribe who graduated from the UK in 1940's and later joined the judiciary and then politics.
