Dontee Stokes

Dontee Stokes is notable because he filed a police complaint in 1993 alleging that a priest, Maurice Blackwell (now defrocked) had fondled him over a period of three years. The Baltimore archdiocese (to which Blackwell belonged) investigated and found that Stoke's claims were "not credible," though this finding was later disputed by a church-appointed review board. No criminal charges were filed against the priest as a result of the complaint.

In February of 2005, Maurice Blackwell stood trial for charges of child [...] abuse related to Dontee. After a week, the jury found him guilty, however the judge declared a mistrial because of statements made by several witnesses during the trial related to past allegations of abuse towards other vicitims.

Dontee is currently living in Baltimore and working on a book that chronicles his life and to help other victims.

On May 15, 2002 the former Roman Catholic priest was shot outside his Baltimore home Monday night by Dontee Stokes.
