Don Jaga

Don Jaga (born 20 April 1983), born Tiago Emanuel Giovetti Teixeira, is a Portuguese-born, London-based rapper and songwriter of Angolan heritage. He performs primarily in Portuguese and incorporates elements of UK urban music, as well as Latin and African influences.

Career

Early career and Lusavox (2009)

Teixeira began performing in the late 2000s. In 2009, he won the Lusavox music competition, a national showcase broadcast by RTP and reported by Diário de Notícias and BOMDIA.eu.

UK Rap and USG Entertainment (2010–2015)

In the early 2010s, Don Jaga was associated with USG Entertainment, a West London rap collective. He appeared on K Koke’s mixtape Pure Koke Vol. 2 (2010), which later charted on the Official Charts Company listings.

He contributed vocals to the track “Lord Knows” from the same release, noted by GRM Daily for the use of Portuguese in the chorus.

During this period, he also featured on the track “Sorrow” by American rapper Copywrite, alongside Illogic, included on Copywrite’s album God Save the King (Proper English Version).

International collaborations

In 2021, Bulgarian artists 2G and Madman released the single “Екрани”, featuring Don Jaga. The project was discussed on Planet Voice, reported by MySound.bg, and listed by The Voice Bulgaria.

Collaboration with MoYah

Don Jaga has collaborated with Luso-Mozambican artist MoYah at UK cultural events. In 2023, Bristol Beacon featured MoYah’s work, including collaborations with Don Jaga.

In 2025, The Bristol Cable profiled MoYah and noted joint performances with Don Jaga.

The two artists were included in the programme for Migration Matters Festival 2025.

Later work

In 2018, Don Jaga released the Don Jaga EP, which received recognition from the Latin UK Awards (LUKAS).

He has performed at London’s La Clave Festival, a cultural event celebrating Latin and Lusophone music.

In 2023, Don Jaga released the collaborative album Vitória with Rhyme Poetik, distributed by Warner Music Portugal / Parlophone Portugal.

Material from the album was broadcast on RTP África, including a performance of “Deixa” during an interview segment.
