Dog Toffee

Dog Toffee is a garage punk/rock n roll band from Manchester, England. They were formed in 1995 by Gavin Rourke and Sean Lyons and did a lengthy Kerrang! sponsored tour of the UK with King Prawn and Cynical Smile. They also recruited a second guitar player Dale Hamer, a childhood friend of Rourke. They caught the attention of Twenty Stone Blatt, a small indie label label operating out of Falkirk, Scotland, and they offered the band a one album deal which they were glad to accept. The album was "the future of rock n roll is in your hands". Andy Cairns from Belfast band Therapy? heard the album and offered the band the main support slot on their 2000 tour "so much for the ten year plan". Cairns would also later provide vocals on single "Radio" in 2002. They did a short UK tour with legends The [...]; after that tour ended, the band went on a month long tour of Europe with American rock band The B Movie Rats.

The band decided to go with London based indie label State of Decay for the second album. The album was to be named Sacred Heart and was mixed by legendary producer Jack Endino at his own Reciprocal studios in Seattle, Washington. The album got rave reviews from music magazines all around the globe, even managing to secure a deal in Japan with JVC/Victor records. Back home the band got themselves a UK tour with The Wildhearts and carried on gigging, playing with a lot of their heroes such as Dee Dee Ramone, Turbonegro, The Misfits, New Bomb Turks, DOA, Anti Nowhere League, The Exploited to name a few.

Work started on the third album at the bands rehearsal room and it was to be released by the same label that did Sacred Heart. The band had realised things had slowed down so decided on a name change to try andspice things up. They decided on DTX, which quickly explained means ex-dog toffee. They recorded One More Sinner at Mastertone studios in Warrington, England. The band went on a hiatus only resurfacing every now and then to play a local gig. Manager Simon Collier now plays bass in former Audioweb singer Martin Mechant's new band Supajamma. Rourke plays with his old school band Jesus Burgers and they are planning a 2010 album release. .
