DNV Software
DNV Software is a wholly owned subsidiary of the classification society Det Norske Veritas (DNV). It offers solutions for maritime design and engineering, strength assessment, risk and reliability, QHSE and asset Integrity management. The solutions are Delivered to various industries, including energy, process, maritime, petrochemical, refineries, and healthcare. Within the area of risk and reliability, DNV Software develops Quantitative risk assessment software.
DNV Software has approximately 300 employees, and a revenue of approximately US$100 million. The headquarters are located at Høvik, in Bærum, Norway. In addition, DNV Software has offices in Stavanger, London, Glasgow, Rio de Janeiro, Houston, Dubai, Pusan, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore and Mumbai. Its SESAM (FEM) (finite element method) software for strength assessment of fixed and floating structures was originally developed in the 1960s, and has been used ever since in design of oil and gas installations in the North Sea.
DNV Software develops solutions and software for strength assessments of ship structures and marine propulsion, engineering of ships, offshore structures and risers. Further, the company develops risk and reliability analysis tools and solutions for the maritime and offshore industry worldwide.
In June, 2011, DNV Software acquired the Stavanger-based software company Synergi Solutions, adding more than 500.000 users in 150 countries. Based on this merger, DNV Software combined the two companies' development resources to improve solutions for the environment management industry.
