DJ Colin Francis

Colin Francis (born 16 January 1976) is an English DJ and record producer who specialises in house, UK garage, hip-hop, pop, and R&B.

Background

Francis attended UEL and obtained a B.A. (hons) in Economics and Politics. While studying for his degree, he worked in promotions and marketing at the RCA/BMG record company to gain experience within the music industry.

Career

Francis began posting performances and mix compilations on his SoundCloud in 2011, including titles "No Carbs Before Marbs" and "50 Shades of Summer".

In 2013, the Ministry of Sound released "Marbella Sessions 2013", a compilation album mixed by Francis of house and UK garage. "Marbella Sessions 2014" and "Marbella Sessions 2015" were released in following years. Between 2016 and 2018 a "Marbella Collection" was released annually in similar fashion, later including pop and UK rap (grime) in the mixes.

In 2014, Francis hosted and performed at Unique Parties alongside DJ Jermaine J-Funk at venues across Marbella, Spain. He also released a remix with producer Zinc of "Creeping in the Dark", a popular House anthem, which was well received by many DJs including Radio 1's Zane Lowe.

In 2015, Francis supported rapper 50 Cent as his opening act for a three-city UK tour. He also performed at V Festival 2015's Lovejuice VIP Area alongside Sammy Porter and Tinie Tempah's DJ Charlesy. In April 2015, Francis released Journey, an album released in collaboration with The Zoooo Records.

Francis later founded the Colin Francis Project, an independent record label through which he'd release his remixes, original productions and collaborations.
