Dirty Dragon
Dirty Dragon was a children's TV character created by Chicago television personality Bill Jackson and who co-starred with Jackson on several programs, most notably Gigglesnort Hotel.
The Dragon had his beginnings in the early 1960s when Jackson was hosting a program in Indianapolis. It has been said that Dirty Dragon was based upon one of Jackson's co-workers, though this cannot be confirmed. Jackson had designed, voiced and usually manipulated the character, who had the appearance of a traditional fire-breathing dragon, and a very fierce gravelly voice. His grouchy outward temperament covered a loyal heart, as he would often help out Jackson and other characters if they were in trouble. He usually held a job on the program that allowed him to keep his fire breathing powers going; for instance on Gigglesnort Hotel he'd worked in the boiler room as a coal stoker. (He ended up eating most of the coal). On The BJ and Dirty Dragon Show, he'd work as postmaster and eat much of the viewer mail.
