In 1987 is was acquired by IBC PLC (now Informa Group PLC). It was then sold back to the original management in 1991. Alongside Direct Response magazine the company, DRM ltd, published Professional Fundraising Magazine and Sales Promotion Magazine (both still in publication). The magazine also organized the first Direct Marketing Management Forum. Beyond Communications purchased the title 1996, but failed to maintain its profitability and it was acquired by the Haymarket Group in 1997.
