Dew Tour 2009

The Dew Tour began in 2005 and is a five-stop BMX/Motocross/Skateboard series. There are five major, multi-discipline events with a cumulative points system, a $2.5 million competitive purse - the largest in action sports - and an additional $1 million bonus pool based upon year-end standings. 2009 was the first year where stops 1 and 2 were sport-specific events- BMX at stop 1 (Chicago) and Skateboarding at stop 2 (Boston).

With stops in Chicago, IL.; Boston, MA; Portland, Ore.; Salt Lake City, Utah and Orlando, Fla., the 2009 Dew Tour ran from June through October, crowning six Dew Cup champions at Season's End.

BMX: Dirt

Until Ryan Nyquist doubled up on wins at Portland and Salt Lake City, there was a different winner at each summer stop in 2009 (Josh Hult was a first time winner in Chicago, Brandon Dosch a first time winner in Orlando). However, Nyquist's consistency throughout the Tour was just what he needed to take the Dew Cup.

Winning the Dew Cup became another accolade Garrett Reynolds could add to his list from the summer of 2009. Top names won each park stop of 2009, with veteran Dave Mirra taking Chicago, young Reynolds in Portland, last year's Dew Champion Daniel Dhers winning in Salt Lake City, and Athlete of the Year Ryan Nyquist closing out Orlando.

BMX: Vert

Throughout the competition, the BMX vert athletes were at the top of their game, but it wasn't enough to topple the undefeated Jamie Bestwick. He is the only athlete to sweep the tour, and has taken home the BMX vert Dew Cup every year of the tour.

The crowd pleasing antics of FMX played out well in 2009 as demo jam sessions. The athletes competed in various competition-style action-packed jams that brought out huge crowds.

Skateboard: Park

After an injury took Ryan Scheckler out of the game early and the interesting turnout of the Toyota Challenge, where Chaz Ortiz and Paul Rodriguez didn't even make the final jam, the Dew Cup was up for grabs among the skate athletes. Chris Cole proved he has street and competition cred when he won his first Dew Cup.

Orlando literally came to a winner-takes-all battle between Bucky Lasek, Pierre-Luc Gagnon, and Andy MacDonald- the winner of the Orlando competition would also take away the Dew Cup. Except PLG winning in Portland, Bucky Lasek won every competition in 2009 to carve his way to be Dew Cup Champion.
