Defensive back and WR at Bayside High School in Virginia Beach. Ranked Four Star prospect by Rivials.com. Chose Virginia over Virginia Tech, NC State, North Carolina, Stanford, Auburn, East Carolina, West Virginia, and Rutgers.

College career

Freshman

Was the first true Freshman to start in an opening game since Kevin Cook. Started all 13 games. Record 3 tackles and an interception in his collegiate debut against William and Mary in 2011. Finished the season with 60 tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. Named a second-team Freshman All-American by Yahoo! Sports and CollegeFootballNews.com.

Sophomore

Started all 12 games. Finished the season with 56 tackles and 15 pass deflections. All-ACC honorable mention ... Coaches All-ACC honorable mention ... Phil Steele preseason All-ACC fourth team.
