DeKalb County Federal Savings and Loan Building

The DeKalb County Federal Savings and Loan Building is a historic bank building in Conyers, Georgia. Originall a branch of the DeKalb County Federal Savings and Loan Association, it is now a BB&T Bank. It was designed by Tucker & Howell and includes friezes by Julian Hoke Harris. It is located on the Corner of South Main and Bank Street.

Attorney James Robin Harris was the bank's president, chairman and CEO. Julius McCurdy became a director of the bank at 21, went on to become chairman emeritus in the 1990s. He also became president of the Decatur DeKalb Bar Association and Decatur Rotary, a member of the Georgia General Assembly, and a founder of the DeKalb Historical Society (1947), he also served as the group's president. The bank merged with First Union circa 1993 and it in turn merged with Wachovia Bank which was bought by Wells Fargo Bank in 2010. A record of the bank's history and related documents is held by the DeKalb History Center.
