Defiler
Defiler is an American deathcore band from Castro Valley, California.
History
Defiler formed in March 2010, and gained popularity in October that year following the release of their music video viral hit, "Cryomancer". They received further exposure in early 2011 when music blog Stuff You Will Hate posted an article AbOUT the band, which cited how polished and well-produced it was for a young band, as well as the song's misogynist lyrics.
Their first album, Pangaea, was self-produced and self-released in October 2010, and was reissued a year later by Stillborn Records, an independent record label founded by Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta. The band began touring on a national level in early 2012, and have since shared the stage with acts such as Wayne Static, Polkadot Cadaver, Straight Line Stitch, and Dead By Wednesday.
In June 2012, Defiler posted a new song entitled "Lucky 38" and announced that they had signed with Razor & Tie and were working on a New album with a planned fall release date. Nematocera was released on October 9, 2012 and received a GeneRally positive critical reaction. The album showed a progression in writing style and featured Emmure vocalist Frankie Palmeri as a guest vocalist on the track "Octobortion."
