Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC) is a Ghanaian privately held limited company and military technology manufacturing entity of GAF (Ghana Armed Forces) that designs and builds electrical systems and provides services for the UCAV, arms, aerospace, defence, transportation and security markets of GAF.

DIHOC is solely a GAF (Ghana Armed Forces) initiative and it is run by the Ghana Armed Forces. DIHOC has no direct relationship to government. DIHOC is a private commercial entity. The DIHOC company is the driving force and engine of the CIMICSED (Civil-Military Collaboration for Socio-Economic Development) concept and DIHOC additionally provides security of tenure for this intervention by the Ghana Armed Forces.

Overview

The DIHOC has been formed to separate socio-economic activities engaging in from the core business of the GAF (Ghana Armed Forces). DIHOC precisely answers the need that the Defence industries Department (DID) has been established to provide that framework for the Ghana Armed Forces. In order for the DIHOC to direct this effort appropriately, correctly and more effectively, DIHOC serves primarily the needs of the GAF arms industry and military–industrial complex. Secondly, the DIHOC company produces enough to meet the needs of the Ghana market. The first DIHOC Board of Directors were the Minister of Defence, in his capacity as chairman of the Board, the Chief of the Defence Staff and the three GAF Service Chiefs with the Director Legal Services of the Ghana Armed Forces as Secretary. The DIHOC appointment holders do not represent their individual persons but their official appointment. The DIHOC appointment holders responsibilities naturally devolve to their successors. As the DIHOC company gains firm footing appointment holders arrangement the DIHOC appointment holders will assume a more permanent status where the DIHOC Board of Directors shall either be retired GAF service military personnels or civilians.

The role of the DID is mainly to provide that linkage with the Ghana Armed Forces. Therefore the GAF Military High Command is not involved in the day-to-day running of the DIHOC company. The DID is the Ghana Armed Forces institution that provides the policy direction, guidance and coordination that are required to ensure that DIHOC remains focused in its activities and mission. DID, the only military person is the GAF Director General and a skeletal staff of serving and retired GAF service military personnels as well as civilian employees.
