Career
Dee Vazquez is a tv/radio personality, and journalist from New York City. As host of “The # 1 Countdown: Hip-Hop” on The Fuse Network, Dee introduces the hottest videos and interviews elite and groundbreaking artists and actors to viewers across the nation every week. She began her career on the Cable Access show "Video City". After two years of hosting and co-producing the show and it's featured music videos Dee landed the role as correspondent for "The Roof" on MUN2 Network, 8 months in the position, she was offered the role as the main host but politely declined. She remained the NY correspondent for the show and signed up to do her own radio show in Long Island on Party 105.3fm with music producer Ayatollah as the DJ. Her audience quickly gravitated to her eclectic style of music, that consisted of hip-hop, pop, reggaeton, break-beats and instrumentals. Although Dee had experience as a radio personality, (she co-hosted alongside hip-hop legend DJ Marley Marl on "Future Flavaz", and reggae legend "Original Roots Man" Earl Chin on "Rockers Radio") this was her first time stepping out as star on her own radio show. In 2004 she left her show on a high note by throwing a party in the Hamptons for her fans and invited hip-hop/reggaeton artist NORE and R&B duo Nina Sky to perform their hit single "Oye Mi Canto". Soon after Dee was offered to co-host alongside "The Drama King" on NYC's top rated hip-hop station HOT 97. A month later Kay Slay was offered a time slot at Sirius Satellite Radio on Eminem's station (SHADE 45) and brought Dee along as his co-host. Building a resume in radio and television Dee decided to join her creative writing skills with her knowledge of music to become a journalist and start writing for various magazines. She has written for Bridgez and Urban Biker magazine, has a recurring column in The Connex List titled "Where My Ladies At?", pens an advice column for prisoners in Straight Stuntin' titled "Ask Dee Vazquez", and contributed "The Hip-Hop Digest" (hip-hop, politics, and health) to The Source magazine.
Aside from spreading information many people recognize Dee for her charismatic personality and look to share her energy with their audiences at live events around the Country.
Dee hosts Macy's FASHIONISTA Shopping Party, 5th & 6th Season of BK Fashion Weekend, The 5th & 6th Annual Underground Music Awards, HBO's Latino Film Festival After Party, Miami Baby! Swimwear U.S. Launch, "I Am The Underground" Concert, The Latin Connect at S.O.B.s, covered The Evidence Dance Company Winter Gala, The Cuervoton Concert at the Nokia Theatre, The Source Awards in Miami, The Megaton Concert at Madison Square Garden, and joined Daddy Yankee and N.O.R.E. on stage for his homecoming concert in Puerto Rico. Dee also co-hosted the 2007 Urban DVD Awards, The Roof On The Road in Texas, The Wheelie Boyz Bike Show in Virginia, along with several international events and moderated the 2006 A&R Power Summit, and the 2007-08 Women on the Move Tour.
She was also a featured guest on Fox’s 5 Mike & Juliette's Morning Show, BET's The Center, and judged 106 & Park's "Freestyle Friday". She is currently working with former Vice-President Al Gore's politically aware cable network, Current TV.
Dee has also lends her time to charitable events like Madison Square Garden's foundation "Garden of Dreams" and schedules time to visit schools, foster homes, and prisons regularly to give motivation and encouragement to the youth and those incarcerated. Dee Vazquez's goal is to utilize all media outlets to represent and inspire her generation.
