David Raven (musician)

'''David McSparran''' aka '''David Raven''' is an [[United States|American]] session drummer, known for his work with artists like [[Greg Ginn]], [[Mastedon]], [[Mark Heard]], [[Amy Grant]], [[Peter Himmelman]], [[Pierce Pettis]], [[Tonio K]], [[Mojo Monkeys]], and the rock band [[The Swirling Eddies]] (credited as '''Hort Elvison'''). In the 1980s, McSparran worked frequently with songwriter Mark Heard, appearing on the albums ''[[Ashes and Light]]'' in 1984; ''[[Mosaics (album)|Mosaics]]'' in 1985; and ''[[Tribal Opera]]'' in 1987. The following year, the drummer joined the Keaggy Stonehill band for A Tour in support of [[Phil Keaggy]]'s ''[[Phil Keaggy and Sunday's Child|Sunday's Child]]'' and [[Randy Stonehill]]'s ''[[Can't Buy A Miracle]]'', under the name of David Raven. Also that year, Raven became a member of [[The Swirling Eddies]], performing on their albums and at their rare concert performances.
