David Moiseevich Novogrudskiy

David Moiseevich Novogrudsky (05/10/1898 — 12/03/1953) — Russian microbiologist.

Biography

Born in Warsaw. Graduated from Moscow State University in 1929; after graduation did research in MSU. Head of microbiology labs at the All-Soviet institute of natural rubber and gutta-percha (1929-1931), Russian Microbiology Institute (1932-1935), Institute of Microbiology of the Soviet Academy of Sciences (1935-1938), Karaganda agricultural experimental lab (1945-1946), Institute of Soils of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences (1946-1950). One of founders and Chief Editor (together with E.E. Uspenskiy) of Journal "Microbiology" (1932-1937). Most of his publications were in the area of ecology, symbiotic and antagonism of soil micro-organisms and growth products generated by them.

Died in a Soviet concentration camp.
