David Meyerholz

David K. Meyerholz is an American Professor of pathology and microbiology at both University of Iowa and the Carver College of Medicine.

Early life

David Meyerholz obtained both his Ph.D. and Master's degrees from Iowa State University as well as diploma in virology from American College of Veterinary Microbiologists.

Career

He began studying lung disease when he discovered that his son have reactive airway disease. In 2010 he along with other colleagues have studied gastrointestinal pathology in newborn pigs to determine a gene encoding mutation in cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator which causes cystic fibrosis. The study later helped solved the mysery behind the disease.

In 2013 he contributed to Philip Sanders's paper AbOUT asthma and in 2014 was a contributor to James McNamara's article on treatment of staphylococcal infection. His contributions to various scientific experiments continued in both 2015 and 2016. In 2015 he was a contributor to Christopher Adams' article on how to keep the muscles strong. and the same year began began serving on an editorial board member for Laboratory Investigation, a journal that is owned by the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. He is also an Associate Editor of The American Journal of Pathology as well as Veterinary Pathology.
