David Horta, Contemporary Argentine Composer.
David Horta, teacher and composer, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1958. He studied composition and musical analysis with Julio Viera and Francisco Kröpfl. He continued his formation in electroacustic media as asociated composer at LIPM (Research and Musical Production Laboratory) Centro Cultural Recoleta, Buenos Aires.
With the suport of Rockefeller Fundation, he was resident composer at the University of California in San Diego. Visiting composer in Paris invited by Ensemble ARCEMA (University D´Orsay Paris XI).
His works: Pneuma (1988) for orchestra, Elementos (1993) for ensemble, and Tres Transformaciones (1986) for solo flute, obtained the Juan Carlos Paz Prizes by Fondo Nacional de las Artes.
His music comprises chamber, orchestral, and mixed media, leading by flexible atonalism with strong enphasis on rthythmic and formal structures. Most of his works had been premiered in Argentina, U.S.A, Mexico, Spain and France, by notable performers with a large artistic background.
Nowdays, he is a member of Agrupacion Nueva Musica, teaching into the Jazz area of Escuela de Musica de Avellaneda, Buenos Aires, and he gives privated lessons of composition and musical analysis.
