David Carter (entrepreneur)

David Carter is an English Internet and mobile media Entrepreneur and Web Developer best known for launching The App Factory. He is the CEO of the United Kingdom-based technology and consulting company The Corporate Group.

Personal life

. Carter was raised by his single parent mother Carter grew up in Manchester, England. He is from a council estate in Manchester and has often referenced his mother as his inspiration in various InterViews. By age 13, he had become interested in web development. He attended Chapel-en-le-Frith High School and The Manchester College, where he first conceived the idea for The App Factory. In 2011 he first appeared on the Sunday Times Young Rich List.

Career

When a teenager, Carter began creating applications and sold them worldwide via an Android development account. For the first two years Carter acted alone to develop applications to distribute to Android market, with the first application being uploaded in December 2009. Over a period of six months, Carter developed over 80 mobile applications sold worldwide generating download figures over 600,000.

The portfolio of applications developed became the largest seen on Android devices worldwide within 2010, with Carter still 18 years of age. Turning down a University placement, he started to work full-time on the business in September 2010.

In 2011, Carter founded Corporate Group when he merged two of his existing companies, M-Tech Innovation and The App Factory. Corporate Group develops and sells computer and mobile device software, along with offering infrastructure and consulting services in areas ranging from application development, integration, and solution development.

Corporate Group

Whilst studying at The Manchester College founded The App Factory which then spun off The Corporate Group. In his role during the pivotal days of the company's founding, Carter and fellow college students would skip class and use the School IT labs at the end of the day writing software. Carter self funded the venture bootsrapping funds from mobile applications sold on iPhone and Android app stores.

As Corporate Group grew its client base, Carter chose improving client solutions as top priority, even over creating revenue – which, as of 2011, Corporate Group was not designed to earn. Carter described the strategical direction of Corporate Group and its developers as "Taking food from the mouths of old sleeping tech giants". His three guiding principles, which are shared by the whole company and through its culture, are simplicity, best code wins and craftsmanship. Corporate Group is headquarted in Manchester, England with offices in London, Russia, Mumbai, and Palo Alto, California.
