David Allen (actor/comedian)

While still in school, he landed production projects consulting with World Wrestling Entertainment and focused much of his energy on design and motion graphics. Those skills are offered forth in most of his projects today. Upon graduating, David Allen joined Jason Hardwick and Alex Mangen in premiering their sketch comedy venture, titled Left of Center. The show premiered theatrically, selling out its engagements, and spun off "viral sensations" that began airing on MTV and CW programming. Since then, Allen has honed his craft, training and performing, at Chicago's The Second City and ImprovOlympic, as well as, famed Los Angeles establishment, The Groundlings. Characters

In the world of underground comedy, David Allen is known widely for his character work. He often uses an inventive digital style that combines solid improvisation with snappy editing. A first hit for Allen was Ted Hart. The Hart character debuted on Left of Center (episode 101) in 2006 and quickly gained internet attention. He has been known to show up randomly as the character, opening for rock bands or at public events, confusing those who aren't in on the joke. Hart is among a few others (Dale, and Sullivan)that were created as Allen grew up in the Midwest. He developed several others while working on the stage of Chicago's ImprovOlympic (XdevenX,The Don)

Characters on Myspace

David Allen uses MySpace as a tool to create and attract by giving individual characters their own page. From there, videos are often improvised and added to develop material and gain individual following. Often, they have the effect of being real people. The pages established on MySpace fall under his label "The Asylum".

Impressions
