Dave Parker (Canadian politician)

For other persons named Dave Parker, see Dave Parker (disambiguation).

David Donald (Dave) Parker (born January 23, 1968) was a dark horse candidate for the Liberal Party of Saskatchewan in the Saskatoon Sutherland electoral district in the Saskatchewan general election, 2007.

Parker's political aspirations can be traced back to high school, when he reluctantly participated in a televised debate competition at the urgings of a friend. There he discovered his aptitude for elocution and penchant for the adversarial process. He went on to become a high school teacher himself, and later ventured into self-employment by developing a thriving business as a marketing consultant in his hometown of Saskatoon. With already strong ties to the community as a longtime resident and entrepreneur, Parker felt more deeply compelled by issues of social policy after marrying and starting a family. Although his 2007 bid to win a seat in the legislature as the Liberal candidate for his constituency was ultimately unsuccessful (as was the Saskatchewan Liberal Party, having won no seats in the province), Parker remains ACTIVE in the community, residing in Saskatoon with wife Michelle (née Drew) and their two children.
