Danilo S. Furundzic
Danilo S. Furundzic, is a Serbian architect, urban planner, and academic. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Architecture. His work includes areas such as investment consulting, urban transport systems, and public sector infrastructure optimisation.
Early life and education
Furundzic was born in 1980 in Belgrade, Serbia, where he completed his secondary education at the Mathematical Grammar School. He graduated from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Architecture in 2004. Between 2005 and 2006, he undertook postgraduate studies in industrial engineering at the Ecole Centrale Paris in France.
He returned to the University of Belgrade to complete his doctoral studies, defending his PhD thesis in 2017. His dissertation examined the economic valuation of planned density measures in urban mixed-use residential areas. The research received an annual award from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
Career
Furundzic began teaching at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Architecture as an Assistant Professor from 2017 to 2022. In 2022, he was promoted to Associate Professor in the Department Of Urbanism. His academic research includes topics such as brownfield regeneration, sustainable urban mobility, and smart city frameworks.
In addition to his faculty duties, Furundzic is the Executive Director of the Foundation for Solving the Housing Needs of Young Scientific Researchers at the University of Belgrade, where he oversees institutional asset management and housing initiatives for the University's research community. From 2004 to 2008, Furundzic worked on international studies and cost-effectiveness analyses in Belgrade, Paris, and Kuwait. he holds five professional engineering licenses and has served as a certified court expert and chairperson for municipal spatial and urban planning drafting committees.
In the public sector, Furundzic has been involved in municipal utility restructuring and infrastructure cost-optimisation initiatives. From 2015 to 2019, he managed strategic infrastructure projects for public utilities in Serbia, including a role as Chief Executive Officer of the Public Company for Utility and Infrastructure Services of Kikinda. He received the regional Kapetan Miša Anastasijević charter in recognition of his work in public entrepreneurship.
Publication
Furundzic has authored several scientific papers and co-authored academic monographs related to transport issues in Serbia. His co-authored works included titles such as

Awards and honours
• In 2004, Furundzic received Student of the Year Award, presented for a doctoral dissertation defended at the University of Belgrade.
• He received the Serbian Chamber of Commerce award for his doctoral thesis.
