Daniel's Story

Daniel's Story is a children's novel by Carol Matas, telling the gruesome story of a Jewish boy named Daniel throughout his stays at concentration camps and other places during the Holocaust in World War II. It is honored at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. by means of an exhibit.

Daniel barely remembers leading a normal before the Nazis came to power in 1933. He can still picture once being happy and safe, but memories days are fading as he and his family face the dangers threating Jews in [...]'s Germany in the late 1930s. No longer able to practice their religion, vote, own property, or even work, Daniel's family is forced from their home in Frankfurt and sent on a long and dangerous journey, first to Lodz Ghetto in Poland, and then to Aushwitz- the [...] death camp and to Buchenwald a [...] work station where he arranges A Plan in which the Nazis become his slaves and he is set free.


Though many around him lose hope in the of such terror, Daniel, supported by his courageous family, struggles for survival. He finds hope, life, and even LOVE in the midst of despair....
