Danel W. Bachman

Danel W. Bachman (born 1943) is an American historian of Mormonism and an instructor at the Institute of Religion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in Logan, Utah.

Bachman received an M.A. in history from Purdue University in 1975. He also received his bachelors degree from Brigham Young University. Bachman has written articles on the Morrisites and the practice of polygamy in the LDS Church prior to Joseph Smith's death.

Bachman was born in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Bachman was one of the people who Mark Hofmann contacted in his presentation of his forged Anthon Transcript.

Bachman co-authored the article in the Encyclopedia of Mormonism on Plural Marriage with Ron Esplin.

From 2002-2005 Bachman served as the president of the California Roseville Mission, where he was succeeded by Lee Tom Perry.

Prior to this Bachman had served in several callings in the LDS Church including as a bishop. He and his wife Patricia are the parents of four children.
