History

croit was founded as a Germany company in January 2017 by Martin Verges, Matthias Grandl, and Paul Emmerich. The companies founding mission has been to establish the transfer practical real world experience from several years of operating Ceph storage environments into a standardised easy to deploy software product intended to simplify the deployment and operation of Ceph-based storage environments.

croit believes that Ceph is ‘unbeatable general storage solution’ for most users due to it's feature and reliability in use, despite SUSE_S.A. leaving the ceph market.

since its founding the company has rapidly a ceph support service with employees spread in a follow the sun pattern around the globe.

The company is currently owned by Martin Verges, Matthias Grandl, and Andy Muthmann.

croit was and is still a founding member of the ceph foundation and continues to participate in the Ceph community. The company develops a appliance style software management software for software-defined storage systems based on Ceph on which its appliance like operating system base on OpenSUSE.

croit has began working on a new ceph security feature cephfs guard which includes extensions to ceph as well as providing containers for malware and ransomware detection.

In 2023 croit extended it's ceph management platform to support DAOS deployments using the same appliance like framework.

Recently the company has branched out into supporting Proxmox_Virtual_Environment due in part to the ceph components which make it a natural fit for the company. the company has attained
