Confederation Cruiser

The fictional Confederation Cruiser is a cruiser-class capital ship that served under the Terran Confederation fleet in the Wing Commander universe. The first appearance of these cruisers were in the computer game Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger. They are classified as Tallahassee-class Cruisers, and they carry a crew of roughly 330.

The Confederation cruisers were definitely a match against the Kilrathi's Fralthi II-class cruisers, although the Fralthi II cruisers were slightly larger and heavier. They measured at 530 meters long and had a mass that was a little over eighteen thousand metric tonnes. These cruisers were equipped with twelve heavy laser turrets, which was enough to face-off against Fralthi II cruisers and defend against enemy starfighter attacks. It was also capable of carrying capship missiles. These cruisers also house a light complement of starfighters for fighter defense, however the number of fighters these cruisers can house is unknown.

The most notable ship of this class was the TCS Ajax, which was a member of Destroyer Squadron 67, The TCS Victory's escort group. The vessel stuck with the Victory during the final months of the Kilrathi War and participated in the destruction of a number of enemy ships. Dozens of these vessels made up the fleet at the Freya System shortly before the Temblor Bomb flight at Kilrah, and they served with both the Terran Confederation and the Union of Border Worlds during the Black Lance Conspiracy of 2673.

Even after the Kilrathi War and the Black Lance Conspiracy, these cruisers would continue to see service.
