Community of Hermits of St. Bruno
Dissolved 30 April 20071, the former Community of Hermits of St. Bruno (CHSB)2 was an international Roman Catholic Religious community with members in the U.S.A, France, Ireland (north and South), as well as the U.K. The community welcomed men, women, clergy, and former religious who felt called to live out the vocation of hermit in solitude, but with advantages of belonging to a Religious Community. The Community of Hermits of St. Bruno provided fellowship, help, advice and training to postulants and novices. The intention of members was the eventual profession of solemn vows to eremitic life under Canon Law.
As the name implies, [the members of the Community of Hermits of St. Bruno] try to follow the Carthusian spirit..., [enjoying] the support of the Carthusian Prior at Parkminster, the Charterhouse in England, as well as many clergy. We organize our day around our horarium, which involves praying the Divine Office, with periods of Lectio Divina, study, meditation, manual work and the daily attendance as Mass where possible. Like the Carthusians, we also wear a white habit.
The Community of Hermits of St. Bruno was established in February 2001.
