Commander-in-chief of the People's Army of Vietnam
The Commander-in-chief of the People’s Army of Vietnam, previously known as the Commanding General, () is the overall field commander of the People's Army of Vietnam. Not to be confused with the Secretary of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam who is the de facto chief of defense.
Names
During the title existence, it has seen its name changed six times to suit the tasks and requirements of the armed forces in each revolutionary period:
