Collegewikis

Collegewikis is a New York based website launched in 2007 as a way for students and student-based organizations to communicate. The site allows students from any college to ask questions and respond to previously posted inquiries. Student groups can create forums for open discussion and email all members by creating email lists. Students can join groups based on school or interest and receive group specific updates. All entries and responses are wikis allowing readers to edit and Contribute content. Collegewikis.com is currently used by 50,000 students at 200 schools and has over 600,000 topics.

Founding

Collegewikis.com was conceived by Joe Dipasquale while a graduate student at Stanford's school of business when he realized that there weren't group lists for things such as dorms or courses and the emails that were sent were often lost and buried in people's inboxes. Collegewikis.com was created as a remedy to lost emails and unanswered questions AbOUT the topics that matter most to students. It is also proposed as a Long term resource for future students with similar questions or Situations.

Funding

As of October 7 2008 CollegeWikis.com received a $2 million funding from investors such as eCoast Angel Network, Boston Harbor Angels, HighBAR ventures, and Richmond Management.
