Class (skill)

Class (when used in this sense of the word) is a term used to measure the skill or quality level of a particular individual or team. It is often used in sport competitions to enable the prediction as to which team or individual will be expected to beat another.

For example, in football (soccer), teams playing in the UEFA Champions League will be GeneRally of a higher class than those not. Another example is a team from the FA Premier League would be seen as a higher class than a team from a lower division in the same country.

Sometimes this theory is questionable, as upsets have been known to occur, i.e. when a team deemed less skillful defeats a team of higher quality. In this case, there is usually an element of luck involved.
