Christina Olivares

Christina Olivares born on June 21, 1982 in Arcadia, CA is an American television personality and sports anchor who works for the TVG Network as host, reporter and analyst.

Early Life

Christina Olivares was born and bred for the world of horse racing. By the age of four Christina was already taking horseback-riding lessons five days a week; she got her first pony when she was six years old. She competed successfully in the world of hunter-jumpers, spending most weekends at horse shows with other Southern California riding connections such as Kristin McCarron the daughter of Chris McCarron, Ashley Stevens the daughter of Gary Stevens, and Kristin Mulhall the daughter of Ricahrd Mulhall.*1

With her father Frank Olivares competing in the Southern California circuit, Christina spent her summers as a teenager working for him at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. She remembers waking early to go hot-walk, assistant trainer and pony for her father and building sand castles at the beach with Bill Shoemaker.

Goes to College

After graduating from Mayfield High School in Pasadena, Christina went on to the University of Southern California where she immersed herself in the full range of campus activities, everything from football games and sorority functions to campus leadership and philanthropies.

Entertainment Shows

She studied journalism and entertainment communications at the Annenberg School for Communications and gained extracurricular experience working for entertainment programs such as MTV News and Extra as a correspondent.

HRTV

As a senior in college, Christina began working for HRTV as a weekend reporter and features producer in December 2004. Upon graduation she was hired full time at HRTV where she continued as a reporter. She also co-conceptualized as well as produced the weekly countdown shows Target Louisville and Pursuit of the Cup. While at HRTV, she reported at Santa Anita, then covered the Breeders Cup (2005), the Preakness (2005) and then became a studio host and analyst. She left HRTV in February 2006. Reasons are because she wasn't being put in-front of the camera too much.*2

TVG

It was here that Christina was spotted by TVG and recruited as a full-time reporter in March 2006. In this capacity she affords fans the inside advantage of her exceptional background in racing and her familiarity with the connections. At TVG, she reports, hosts and analyzes at Oak Tree Racing Association, Hollywood Park and Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. Then works as a studio host and analyst. She is the host of the TVG show Lady Luck. She is a regular contributor to The Works.

She reported on the Breeders Cup Simulcast Show in 2006. She covered the Breeders Cup in 2007 on At The Races (ATR). She covered the Breeders Cup in 2008 for TVG. She covered the 2009 Belmont Stakes for TVG.
