Chris R. Farley

Christopher Robert Farley (born February 24, 1983) is a Minor League Baseball pitcher.

Background

Farley was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts and grew up in Orange, Massachusetts. He attended Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School where he excelled as a baseball pitcher, throwing a fastball that was clocked in the mid-90 mph range. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 14th Round of the 2001 Major League Baseball Draft. He would sign a contract with the Red Sox shortly thereafter.

Playing career

Farley spent his first two seasons in the minor leagues playing with the Red Sox Rookie League affiliate, The Gulf Coast Red Sox. He would split time as a starter and a relief pitcher going 2-4. In 2003 he was promoted to the Single A Lowell Spinners. In 18 games of relief with the Spinners he would go 1-3 with a 4.70 ERA in 30.2 innings pitched. In 2004 Farley was again promoted to the Advanced A Augusta GreenJackets, he would go 3-5 with a 5.10 ERA in 18 games pitched and would also record the first 2 saves of his career. In 2005 Farley would be forced to start the season with the Independent North Shore Spirit of the Can-Am League. After going 1-0 with a 4.38 ERA in 8 games with the Spirit he signed on with the New Jersey Cardinals, the Single A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. He would finish the season with the Cardinals going 0-1 with a 7.23 ERA in 18.2 innings pitched. Farley would again join the North Shore Spirit for the entire 2006 season. Farley was used as a starter and would go 6-3 with a 3.42 ERA in 71 innings pitched with the Spirit. He would start the 2007 season again with the Spirit and would go 8-2 with a 1.41 ERA in 63.2 innings pitched before being signed by the New York Yankees and splitting time with the Single A Staten Island Yankees and the Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. In 2008 Farley signed on with the Oakland Athletics and would split time between 4 of the Athletics minor league teams ranging from Single A to Triple A. He would finish the season with a combined record of 4-3 with a 3.61 ERA in 87.1 innings pitched. In 2009 Farley would start the season with the Double A Midland RockHounds. He went 1-3 with a 9.22 ERA in 27.1 innings pitched before being released by the team in June. He quickly signed on with the Worcester Tornadoes of the Independent Can-Am League and finished the season with them going 5-4 with a 4.10 ERA in 14 games pitched.
