Chris Hyndman (Painter)
Chris Hyndman is a Canadian-American painter.
Born in London, Ontario, he received his BA in 1997 from the University of Guelph, and his MFA in 2001 from Ohio University.
In 2001, Hyndman was a resident at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, a competitive program for advanced visual artists.
Hyndman resides in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he is an Associate Professor of art at Eastern Michigan University.
Represented by the Susanne Hilberry Gallery, his paintings have been shown in galleries in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
"Within the onslaught of images demanding our attention each day, [Hyndman] seeks those that we usually edit from our vision—the 'noise' of television and the pattern of fabric, for example. From these he reconstructs a world built on unusual painting procedures informed by the video landscape and the camouflage of tartans."
