Chris (CP) Powell
Chris (CP) Powell (born 21 February 1975 in Arlington, TX, USA), is a business columnist and notable member of the comic book retailing community. He uses the nom de plume "CP" in magazine columns and postings to online forums.
Magazine Columns
CP writes the column "Comic Sense" for F+W Publications Inc.'s Comics & Games Retailer.
The column focuses on the ins-and-outs of comic retailing, with tips for new and experienced readers. It also features news and tips related to conventions and trade shows and other topics of interest to the comics retailing community.
Professional Career
Chris Powell is the General Manager of Lone Star Comics, an 8-store chain of retail comic book stores in north Texas, USA and mycomicshop.com, the online comics retailer. He began his career in 1989 as an associate in one of their stores, and was promoted to Store Manager in 1993. In 1998, he moved to their main office as General Manager.
Volunteer Work
CP is also a Director and President Pro-Tem of ComicsPRO, an industry trade organization supporting comic book stores. He serves as the Chair of the Mentoring Committee, Providing services and support to new and future [comic book] retailers.
He is also on the Free Comic Book Day Committee, helping to organize a nationwide event that provides free comics to customers of comic book stores all over the United States.
Chris was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and will serve a 3-year term on the Board.
